Quirky Differences

This segment celebrates one of the most enjoyable experiences of travel in other cultures, what we call "quirky differences," ranging from chalkboard menus outside restaurants, often describing selections somewhat out of our comfort zone, to

toilet flushing mechanisms, graphically pictured, easy enough to figure out without further language,--Large, and Small! Just push the appropriate button.
Late into the trip, in Prague, we finally did enter a McDonald's, the first time was a stand-alone location right underneath a railway bridge, and it was clean as a pin and very efficient.
The second occasion was inside the Prague airport, complete with a balloon tree, and yes, yellow checkered tablecloths. With the newspapers available. Could not believe our eyes. Yellow checkered tablecloths, not plastic ones either. With a vase of real flowers on each table. Can you believe it?
We didn't to into the Burger King, but thought the contrast of the old style street lamp and the modernday BK graphics was interesting.
I think this is a repeat for this sign...I still wonder just what it means.
Aren't these decorated carriage horses great? We saw these macrame headcovers in every imaginable color, some entirely covered the ears and some just slipped over the ears. They serve a purpose, of course, of keeping flies/bugs from the eyes and ears of the horses, but again...something so utilitarian is turned into a work of art.
In this chapel we saw a scene that was totally ununderstandable to us...like Mexican or Chinese holiday lanterns strung throughout the chapel, a strange mixture of almost pagan with Christian icons.
Oh, yeah, the Golden Arches...this is the sign over one McDonald's that we didn't go into. Neat, eh?
